Your choices
Rook doesn't use analytics or any other optional cookies right now, so there's nothing to turn on or off. If that changes, we'll ask you first.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. We use them only as described here.
Cookies and storage we use
__Host-rook_session
- Type
- Essential cookie
- What it does
- Keeps you signed in to your school's Rook site. Only set on school sites (like yourschool.rook.work), never on rook.work.
- How long it lasts
- Until you sign out, or 12 hours after you sign in
__Host-rook_sso
- Type
- Essential cookie
- What it does
- Ties your return from your school's single sign-on to the sign-in you started, so nobody else can finish it. Only set on school sites, while you sign in (or while a campus admin tests single sign-on).
- How long it lasts
- About 15 minutes
__Host-rook_link
- Type
- Essential cookie
- What it does
- Set when you ask for a sign-in link, so the link signs you in without another click when you open it in the same browser. Opened anywhere else, the link asks you to press Sign in first. A random value: it says nothing about you.
- How long it lasts
- 1 hour
rook.src
- Type
- Essential session storage item
- What it does
- On school sites: where you first came from, such as "qr" for a flyer's QR code, so an application can be credited to the place that worked. Not a cookie: it's only sent with Rook's anonymous view counts, with your application, and in the link back to a job when you sign in to apply.
- How long it lasts
- Until you close the tab
rook_photo_order_v1
- Type
- Essential session storage item
- What it does
- On rook.work: keeps the photos in the same places if you reload the page. Not a cookie, and never sent to us.
- How long it lasts
- Until you close the tab (a saved order is only reused for 5 minutes)
rook:stale-build-reload
- Type
- Essential session storage item
- What it does
- On every Rook site: the time a page last reloaded itself to pick up a new version of Rook, so it does that at most once a minute instead of over and over. Not a cookie, and never sent to us.
- How long it lasts
- Until you close the tab
__Host-rook_platform
- Type
- Essential cookie
- What it does
- Keeps Rook's own support staff signed in to our internal console.
- How long it lasts
- 8 hours
rook_consent_v1
- Type
- Essential cookie
- What it does
- Remembers your cookie choice on rook.work, so we only ask once. Never sent to school sites.
- How long it lasts
- 12 months

Other ways to control cookies
- Your browser's settings can block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in to your school's site.
- Clearing this site's cookies resets your choice, and we'll ask again on your next visit.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics stays off unless you turn it on yourself.
